The Clip

Storyboard

The Clip

This is my final clip. I wanted it to show how mass produced objects/item (eg: cards) are made for a purpose in Industrial design and one of the main purposes is that of human interaction with that object/item.

Concept 3

Cards

A Mass Produced Object that Benefits Society Through a Purpose for Human Interaction.

I showed the the beginning of my stop motion in only a few seconds which wasn't very good at all and I couldn't manage to do what I was intending to do in a stop motion so I decided on this third concept. Which includes the use of cards where I have decided to focus more on the purpose/functionality of the object/item that benefits our society in a sociable way rather than concentrating on the attachment/bond to an object/item.

Font used for the text: A NEW WAY OF SEEING.
I developed this font from the playing cards themselves so that it links the two.

Concept 2

Notebook

Forming an Attachment/Bond to a Mass Produced Object Through Time

My first idea showed the relationship between the object and its owner, but I wanted to concentrate more on the human interaction (consumer) side than that of the objects point.

The Notebook

I wanted to show how my I am doing my layouts for the notebook. IE: this is the format for the end of the first 5 days.

300 Words

The Clip

I am majoring in industrial design so I looked into how mass produced objects/items becomes something unique to its owner. This is shown through how its owner treats their object eg: drops it and it gets a crack or scratch marks. If they chose to make it their own through drawing on it or decorating it to show their own personality/identity in their object. I believe that through consumerism that most objects/items that are mass produced develops its own personality and attachment to their owner as time goes on because the consumer has their own unique identity that this is shown through their objects/items. These small decorative qualities are not for the wider consumer (the whole) but just for that consumer whose object it is as they have journeyed and developed an attachment/bond to that object. I also believe that all mass produced objects should benefit society for a purpose that human interaction with that object/item becomes unique to those who are interacting with that object eg: memories made through using that object/item. I am also very big on aesthetics of and object/item because that is usually what attracts the consumer in to buy it.
So I want to try and show this in my process as well as in my clip.

Concept 1

The Hat

A Mass Produced Object Develops its own Identity through Human Interaction

This was my first idea where I wanted to show how the industrial state of our world with everyday objects that we have, becomes unique through time. The object develops its own identity as its owner becomes attached that that object.

Brainstorm

The Clip

Brainstorm

I explored the Narrative and Ideas to my discipline (Industrial Design) by branching them out further and added quotes that relates to what I want to get across to my audience.

Experimental Stop Motion Test

In this short Stop Motion Video I wanted to show the general idea that I was exploring in doing for my Clip. It starts off as a common standard white cube and then transforms into something personal through the drawings they had made on it as its owner develops a personal attachment to it.

Inspiring Storyboard

I like how this storyboard creates an atmosphere through the use of techniques such as zooming in.

Research

Inspiring Stop Motion Video

I like this video as it is creative and unique. I would like to show a similar technique in my own animation.
